Thanks for posting this, Shane. It's great to have all the info laid out in one place for students who prefer to go this route. aloha Jill

The NCCAOM handbook outlines their apprenticeship policies for taking the national exam. If you are not planning to practice in California, this might be a good option. The Candidate Handbook is at http://www.nccaom.org/applicants/index.html Basi...

I think you mean Emily Navas. She is currently working as Admissions Director at the College and will be in Admin on Wed and Thurs, I think. If you can't reach her there, write me at hollandstewart@yahoo.com and I will forward your email to her.

I plan to practice in the state of CA thus I'd have to take the CA state board exam and have to follow their guidelines for tutorial. If you are planning to practice in another state then the national test will work for you.

It is nice to not have to follow the strict TCM track and to take less classes. However, you have to be very organized and diligent since you are basically in charge of your own education. I'm fortunate to work with an acupuncturist who has done this before and is thus very organized with the process otherwise it can be difficult. It is also good for you to know what kind of specialty you want to do in acupuncture and mentor under someone who does that. I you can get more info on how to do a tutorial according to the state board here: http://www.acupuncture.ca.gov/ed_providers/tutorial.shtml. Good luck!

Gosh, I think the classes worked out to be about $20 p/class. Its been awhile, though. You can go in on a Weds eve or Sunday am and do a free class to see how you like it. She is awesome.
